Individual psychotherapy for all ages
As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist I provide play therapy to children ages 7 and older. This includes support for parents in understanding nervous system behaviors and responses and how to implement strategies at home. I also offer Minecraft therapy as a powerful clinical intervention.
Trained in Attachment Based Family Therapy for Depressed Adolescents, I can provide individual psychotherapy or family-systems based support depending on the specific needs of each patient. Teens appreciate my "pop cultural competency" and ability to connect with current interests.
I work from an integrated approach beginning with my graduate training in Buddhist psychology and meditation, augmented by somatic trauma training in EMDR and ongoing study in contemporary relational psychodynamic theory. This background offers patients the opportunity to safely explore past relationships and the impact of early developmental experiences.
My work with patients of all ages is trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, and collaborative. The foundation of my approach is rooted in the latest scientific research from the fields of interpersonal neurobiology, polyvagal theory, somatic psychology, and the impact of power and privilege on marginalized identities. As a white, cis-gendered male, I continue to engage in my own personal work to explore the impact of my identities on those who might look and/or identify differently.
